Why are youth now required to reserve a ticket to the dances?

Requiring a ticket helps us create a safer, more uplifting, and well-organized experience for everyone who attends.

First, it allows us to know who is coming. With large numbers of youth in attendance, having a registration system helps ensure safety and accountability for all involved.

Second, it gives youth the opportunity to review and agree to the standards for dress and behavior before arriving. This helps set clear expectations and reduces confusion or awkward situations at the door.

Third, it helps leaders prepare appropriately by understanding attendance in advance and ensuring adequate supervision and support.

This process is not intended to create barriers, but to provide clarity, safety, and a better overall experience for the youth.

Question 2

What about youth who are not in the supervising stakes, such as Riverside or Orange County? Can they still attend the dances? Will they be required to have a ticket?

Accepted Answer

Yes, youth from other stakes are welcome to attend.

All youth—regardless of which stake they are from—will be required to reserve a ticket prior to entry.

During registration, those attending from outside the participating stakes will be asked to provide the name and phone number of their stake Young Men or Young Women president.  This allows us to verify attendance as needed and helps ensure a safe and accountable environment for everyone.

Question 3

What about youth who don’t have a phone?

Accepted Answer

Youth without a phone are still welcome to attend.

A phone is not required to participate. Youth may register for a ticket in advance using a parent’s phone, a leader’s device, or by printing their ticket. At the door, leaders will also have a master list and can check them in by name.

Our goal is to ensure access for all while maintaining safety and accountability.

If youth present themselves at the dance in questionable attire, are leaders going to turn them away?

Accepted Answer

Our goal is not to turn youth away, but to help them participate in a way that aligns with the standards they have agreed to.

Leaders will approach these situations with kindness, respect, and clarity. If attire does not meet the stated standards, youth may be asked to make an adjustment before entering. In many cases, this can be resolved quickly and positively.

We are striving to create an environment where expectations are understood in advance, so that youth can arrive with confidence and fully enjoy the activity.

Are tickets required for everyone?

Yes. All youth attending the dance are required to reserve a free ticket prior to entry.

Is there a cost for the ticket?

Accepted Answer

No. Tickets are completely free.

What if a youth forgets to register before arriving?

Accepted Answer

Youth who arrive without a ticket will be asked to register before entering. Leaders will be available to help guide them through the process if needed.

What information is required when registering?

Youth will be asked to provide:
 • Name
 • Phone number
 • Stake and ward
 • Agreement to follow dress and behavior standards

What standards are youth agreeing to when they register?

 • Dress

 • Respect for others
 • Respect for the building as a house of worship

What happens if a youth does not follow the standards during the dance?

Accepted Answer

Leaders will address situations respectfully and directly. Youth may be asked to adjust their behavior. In more serious situations, they may be asked to leave.  Their ward and stake leaders may be contacted.

How will youth be checked in at the door?

Accepted Answer

At entry:
 • Tickets will be verified
 • Names will be confirmed on the master list
 • A brief standards check will take place

This helps ensure a safe and orderly environment.

Can youth leave and re-enter the dance?

Accepted Answer

To help maintain a safe environment, youth who leave may be required to check back in before re-entering.  In some cases, re-entry will not be permitted.

Will there be adult supervision at the dance?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Adult leaders will be present throughout the event, including inside the dance area. Safety measures, including first-aid readiness, will also be in place.

Clear expectations and consistent processes help youth feel confident, help leaders provide better support, and help parents feel comfortable sending their youth.

What should youth expect when they arrive at the dance?

When youth arrive at the dance, the check-in process will be simple and welcoming:

1. Check-In

Youth should have their ticket ready (on a phone, printed, or provide their name). A leader will verify their registration.

2. Name Confirmation

Their name will be confirmed on the attendance list.

3. Standards Check

Leaders will do a brief and respectful check to ensure attire aligns with the stated standards.

4. Entry

Once checked in, they will be welcomed into the dance to enjoy the evening.

If a youth does not yet have a ticket, they will be asked to register before entering. Leaders will be available to help guide them through the process.

If any adjustments are needed prior to entry, a leader will speak with them kindly and privately so they can participate fully and confidently.

Our goal is for every youth to feel welcome, safe, and confident, with clear expectations so everyone can enjoy a positive and uplifting experience.
